Who We Are

Help is Our Main Goal

The Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities (HCBDD) is the primary agency supporting people with developmental disabilities in our county.

While you may not recognize our official name, you likely know us as Christie Lane, a name rooted in our history with Christie Lane Industries and Christie Lane School. The name has changed, but our mission remains the same.

In 2016, following a CMS mandate, HCBDD privatized its workshop, where many adults once learned job skills and participated in meaningful activities.

Today, those services continue through CLI and other local providers, funded by local property tax dollars, a vital investment in helping people with developmental disabilities live, learn, and work in their communities.

Our mission is to empower people with disabilities to lead self-directed lives and reach their full potential as valued members of the community.

Each year, we support children, adults, and families in overcoming barriers, embracing new challenges, and celebrating the belief that everyone has a unique gift to share.

Your Support Makes a Difference

Funding for developmental disability services in Huron County is a shared responsibility between federal and local sources, working together to support people at every stage of life.

These combined resources ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities have access to essential programs, from early intervention and education to employment and community living supports.

The message is simple — when we invest in people, we strengthen our entire community by helping every individual live, learn, work, and thrive close to home.

Home Visiting Update

The Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities has ended its Home Visiting Program.

Families interested in home visiting services are encouraged to contact Neighborhood Alliance, which provides home visiting services and support to eligible families in our community.

We are grateful to the families who participated in our Home Visiting Program over the years and to the staff who helped make the program a valuable resource for families throughout Huron County.
